James G. ‚"Jamie" Hall III Caddie Scholarship Award - Scott Boardman
Scott, a graduate of Mendham High School, has been a caddy at Somerset Hills Country Club
since 2002. A senior at Clemson University, he will graduate in May, 2011 with a degree in
political science. Scott is the vice president of Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honor society
at Clemson. He is also a member of the Calhoun Honors College and has been involved with the
university’s local radio station. Scott spent part of the summer after his junior year in Serbia and
Montenegro, studying Serbian politics and ethnic violence. Upon graduation, Scott hopes to
pursue a career in international relations and global politics. |

General Scholarship Award in memory of Louise Hull – Melody Wu
After four years of perseverance, Melody finally attained her goal of graduating first in her class from
Hanover Park. Accomplishing much throughout high school, she became president of the
Environmental Club and the Book Club, secretary of the Class Council, opinion editor of the Forum
newspaper, and a member of the award-winning Academic Decathlon team. Due to her love for
animals, Melody regularly socialized the felines at Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter. On Sundays, she
volunteered as a teaching assistant at the North New Jersey Chinese Association Chinese School,
which she had previously attended for twelve years. Melody will begin classes at Harvard
University in the fall, where she hopes to attain Chinese and Japanese citations and will probably
major in East Asian Studies in Economics.

Seton Hall Prep Scholarship in honor of Fannie Stanley – Mikael Taveras
Mikael will enter his freshman class at Seton Hall Prep in September. Mikael lives with his parents
and two siblings in Newark, New Jersey, and graduated first in his class from Ironbound Catholic
Academy. While at Ironbound, he was president of the Chess Club and tutored younger students
with remarkable patience. He patrolled the fifth grade and was responsible for the barricade after
school.

The Harding School Award in honor of Dee Klikier – Adin Makowsky
Adin was the recipient of the middle school leadership award—an award given to a graduating
eighth grader in every Morris County middle school. He was the president of the Student Council
and attended the National Young Leaders State Conference in Princeton, New Jersey. He has
volunteered at Neighborhood House and weekly volunteers at his Hebrew school. Adin will begin
his freshman year at Madison High School in the fall. |

The University of Vermont Urban Partnerships Program
Founded in 2000, the Urban Partnerships Program at UVM takes a comprehensive, pro-active
approach towards students in inner city high schools beginning as early the ninth grade.
Teachers and advisers from the UVM campus are sent to meet with students, teachers, principals
and parents and sponsored visits for students and parents to the UVM campus are arranged to
reinforce the high school planning visits and link students with admissions and other university
resources. The program is designed to build a relationship with talented students in inner city
high schools and to provide knowledge and guidance about the world of higher education that
students in more affluent schools tend to take for granted. |

Camp Dudley Scholarship Fund
For 125 years, Dudley has remained true to its original mission: to develop boys’ moral, personal
and physical skills in the spirit of fellowship and fun. One of the reasons Camp Dudley has
continued to thrive since 1885, providing magical summer experiences for thousands of young
people, is because of the timelessness of its motto—“The Other Fellow First”—a motto that
resonates through every stages of a man’s life. The William J. Schmidt Annual Scholarship Fund’s
goal is to raise money to enable boys and young men to attend Dudley who would not otherwise
have the opportunity. |
