Caddy Scholarship Award – Jack Williams
A caddy at Somerset Hills Country Club since 2007, Jack is a recent graduate of Seton Hall Prep
and will begin Honors Studies at Franciscan University in Steubenville, OH, in the fall with a dual
concentration in Philosophy and Theology. Jack has been highly involved in his parish youth group,
regularly leading student retreats and participating in annual summer programs to help the developmentally
disabled and to build homes through Habitat for Humanity. While at Franciscan, Jack
hopes to study abroad for a semester in Austria. He plans to pursue a career in either education
or law. |

General Scholarship Award in honor of Carmen DiGiovanni –
Mary Finnegan
Mary will be entering Villanova University where she plans a double major in history and Spanish.
She graduated in 2011 as valedictorian of Warren Hills High School. At Warren Hills she served as
president of the Key Club, vice president of Spring Challenge Reading Club and was an active
member in NHS and Students Against Vandalizing the Earth. Mary loves to be engaged in her
local community and started the Washington Community Garden to give locals a chance to grow
fresh vegetables and test their hands in the soil. She hopes to continue to connect with others
through service in her years at Villanova. |

General Scholarship Award in memory of Teddy Hajjar – Melody Wu
A 2010 graduate of Hanover Park High School, Melody completed her first year at Harvard University
where she is majoring in East Asian Studies in Economics. She is a member of the kendo
(Japanese fencing) team and the Taiwanese Cultural Society. Melody plans to concentrate on
Japanese courses in the fall semester and hopes to intern in Japan next summer. She would like
to start a volunteer program at Harvard supporting local animal shelters in the Boston area and if
time permits, she hopes to dance “hip hop.”

Seton Hall Prep Award in memory of Anne DiGaudio – Mikal Taveras
Mikal graduated from Ironbound Catholic Academy in Newark, NJ, and will enter his sophomore
year at Seton Hall Prep. He participated in the guitar and Car Clubs along with the Varsity Rifle
Club. In order to get the most out of his Prep experience and to insert himself into the community,
Mikael plans to join the Future Leaders of America club and the Knights of Setonia. He also plans
to challenge himself academically by taking AP courses. |

The Harding School Award –Dorothy Lee
Dorothy has consistently been on high honor roll and honor roll throughout her years at the Harding
Township School. She was a member of the yearbook committee, school chorus, student
council, and the gifted and talented program (Quest). Dorothy also played soccer and basketball
while at Harding. Dorothy will be a freshman at Madison High School this fall. |

Camp Dudley Scholarship Fund
For 126 years, Dudley has remained true to its original mission: to develop boys’ moral, personal
and physical skills in the spirit of fellowship and fun. One of the reasons Camp Dudley has
continued to thrive since 1885, providing magical summer experiences for thousands of young
people, is because of the timelessness of its motto—“The Other Fellow First”—a motto that
resonates through every stages of a man’s life. The William J. Schmidt Annual Scholarship Fund’s
goal is to raise money to enable boys and young men to attend Dudley who would not otherwise
have the opportunity. |

Wesley College Student Leadership Program
Wesley College, Dover, DE, is a small, liberal arts college ethnically diverse and comprised of more
than 40 percent first generation students. The new leadership program will enable Wesley to expand
its priority goal of improving college success for incoming first generation and minority freshmen
as they transition from high school to college. The primary goals of this program is to provide
an understanding of the college campus culture and how to navigate the complexity of college life,
to develop networks to be successful on campus and to help participants develop a clear sense
of their leadership skills, learning styles and the positive impact involvement in campus life can
have on future endeavors.

The University of Vermont Urban Partnership Program
Founded in 2000, the Urban Partnership Program at UVM, Burlington, VT, takes a comprehensive,
pro-active approach towards students in inner city high schools beginning as early as ninth grade.
Teachers and advisors from the UVM campus mentor students and build a relationship with talented,
inner city students to provide knowledge and guidance about the world of higher education
that students from more affluent schools tend to take for granted. |
